Home renovation in Caldiero

 

We are in Caldiero, in a quiet residential area, with clusters of houses behind well-kept gardens, no traffic and children free to chase each other with their bicycles: this is the context in which Katia and Eddy live.

The plan to give their home a new lease of life included two small extentions to create a more spacious, liveable kitchen in the living area and a second bathroom for the master bedroom in the sleeping area. This was the most important requiremen, but I did not understimate their desire to give the rooms a new look. Eddy was very precise in his search for materials and special, sophisticated combinations.

Wooden floor

The starting point is the wooden floor throughout the house; there was no hesitation in choosing a smoked oak with a strong personality in stark contrast with the existing stoneware floors.

Very dark, warm and deep, it welcomes us and accompanies us everywhere, from the kitchen to the bedrooms to the master bathroom.

The master bathroom

The idea for the wall tiles in the bathroom of the master bedroom came from the wooden floor: large slabs with a black background, intersected by golden yellow veins marked by a bush-hammered surface, perfectly match and recall the wooden floor.

The result is unique and intense: the 100x300 cm slabs cover the wall of sanitaryware and the recess where the shower is located from floor to ceiling, while the rest of the floor is white and wood.

Girls' bathroom

In the other bathroom, used by the daughters, the apparently very simple white tiles evoke the feeling of raw walls. The same format and shade has been laid both on the floor and on the walls.
