In this article we tell you, and show you, how this old house has completely changed its appearance with a demolition and reconstruction designed by architect Pimazzoni Francesca and carried out by Naturalmente Casa.
A wooden house that aims to reinterpret the natural surfaces of the existing structure, where every space has been studied and customized following the needs of its inhabitants.
BEFORE/DURING AND AFTER THE RENOVATION
EXTERIOR FLOORING
The outdoor spaces were designed first, involving the swimming pool and the pergola. We chose a white 'Pietra di Prun' for the perimeter edge of the pool, which offers an elegant and bright contrast with the blue of the water, reflecting natural light in a suggestive way.
For the flooring of the convivial area, we opted for a dark WPC, a material that not only guarantees durability and resistance to weather conditions, but also a modern and minimalist design that harmonizes perfectly with the surrounding environment. This material was also used for the platforms leading to the pool, creating a smooth and safe path towards the water.
The walkway surrounding the house and the outdoor shower were protected with light porcelain stoneware tiles with a grey resin effect. This choice not only provides a uniform and practical surface, easy to maintain, but also adds a touch of sobriety and refinement. The tile, with its finish that mimics resin, gives a modern and industrial effect, which pleasantly contrasts with the naturalness of the stone and the WPC.
All these flooring elements were selected not only for their aesthetics, but also for their functionality, ensuring anti-slip safety, resistance to the chemical agents of the pool and ease of cleaning, making the outdoor area not only pleasing to the eye, but also a practical and livable space in every season.
LIVING OPEN SPACE
For the living room, minimal wooden furnishings and white lacquered elements with a ribbed texture were combined with a fireplace that becomes the focal point of the room. The structure of the fireplace has been crafted down to the smallest details, with a frame that not only distinguishes it but also makes it a central and distinctive element of the space.
The wooden sideboards, also featuring a ribbed finish, integrate perfectly with the design of the fireplace, offering a touch of warmth and tradition that elegantly contrasts with the modernity of the other furnishings.
The lighting was designed to enhance every detail: soft lights descending from the ceiling create an intimate atmosphere, while wall lamps positioned strategically highlight the wood grain of the sideboards and the elegance of the fireplace frame. This interplay of light and shadow helps to give a sense of depth and warmth to the room.
The Venetian flooring adds a further element of value, making this open space not only bright but also reminiscent of another era; by reflecting natural light, it also enhances the perception of space and cleanliness, fundamental characteristics for a modern living area with a classic soul.
DAY AREA BATHROOM
For the guests, a bathroom was designed that recalls the style of the living room, thus creating an aesthetic continuity that envelops and surprises, using light and natural materials. Upon entering, the coherence is immediately perceived thanks to the same Venetian flooring, which with its soft texture and natural colors introduces a touch of timeless elegance.
The boiserie, wall cladding, made of real pietra di Prun, gives a sense of solidity and natural luxury, with its veins telling stories of ancient natural landscapes.
In the upper part of the walls, we opted for a wallpaper decoration, which introduces a romantic and poetic element. The paper covering, with a delicate floral pattern in pastel tones, creates a fascinating contrast with the robustness of the stone, evoking an atmosphere of an intimate and dreamlike retreat.
The furnishings, chosen in matte white, not only maintain the light and clean color palette, but also allow the focus to be placed on details such as the mirror, with its golden and ornate frame, which becomes the protagonist of the room; it reflects light, visually expanding the space and adding a touch of romanticism that perfectly matches the style of the environment.
Every element, from the taps that echo the colors of the mirror frame, to the choice of a ceramic washbasin with soft lines, has been selected to contribute to creating this bathroom, a tribute to a style from the past.
SPACIOUS AND WELL-ORGANIZED KITCHEN
The kitchen designed for this home had to be large and spacious, as the clients are excellent cooks, passionate about gourmet cuisine and entertaining.
We designed a very large island, which becomes the beating heart of the kitchen, made of porcelain stoneware with a matte marble effect that gives timeless elegance and unique practicality thanks to its resistance to impacts and stains. The base units of the island are in dark wood, a touch of warmth and sophistication, which creates a fascinating contrast with the stoneware top.
Next to the island, we integrated tall matte lacquered pantry columns, which not only offer extraordinary storage capacity for utensils and ingredients, but also a clean and modern design. These columns house state-of-the-art appliances, such as steam ovens, double-door refrigerators and dishwashers, all integrated to maintain clean lines. The retractable doors of these columns reveal additional stoneware countertops, which extend to form an extra work surface, perfect for preparing elaborate dishes or placing ready-to-serve meals.
The choice of stoneware for the worktops s not only aesthetic; the material is known for its durability, ease of maintenance and resistance to heat, essential characteristics in a kitchen where cooking is frequent and passionate.
The lighting has been designed down to the smallest detail, with LED lights integrated both under the wall units and above the island, to ensure that every corner of the kitchen is well lit, facilitating food preparation and creating a welcoming environment.
Finally, every detail, from the stainless steel handles to the finishes of the cabinet doors, has been carefully selected to ensure that this kitchen is not only a workspace, but a true luxury environment where culinary art can be celebrated at its best.

FLOORS AND STAIRS: VENETIAN AND WOOD
This wooden floor, laid in large planks, reflects the same care and attention to detail as the staircase. The grain and knots of the wood are highlighted by a matte finish, which enhances the rusticity of the material without compromising its elegance.
The wood, with its warmth, not only unifies the spaces but enriches them with a sense of comfort and intimacy, making it possible to go up to the sleeping area even barefoot, introduced by a staircase that becomes a design feature.
The internal staircase that connects the ground floor to the sleeping area represents not only a functional passage, but also an architectural element of great visual and stylistic impact. This staircase introduces the material chosen for the surfaces of the first floor: a textured and rustic wood, which echoes the tone of the warmer fragments present in the Venetian flooring of the lower floor, thus creating a chromatic and material coherence that envelops the entire environment.
The choice to leave the structure of the staircase exposed not only enhances its geometry, but also allows the craftsmanship and design to be appreciated. The glass balustrade, with its transparency, plays a fundamental role: it allows light to flow freely, letting the grain and knots of the natural material be seen, as if they were stories engraved over time.
Each step, made of solid wood planks, features a finish that enhances the natural texture of the material, offering not only a unique tactile experience but also a sense of warmth and welcome. The warm tone of the wood, which varies delicately from one step to another thanks to the natural variations of the wood, harmonizes perfectly with the flooring of the first floor, creating a visual continuum that invites exploration.
CHILDREN'S BATHROOM
In the bathroom dedicated to the child, we created a space that works perfectly for the needs of the son, now and as he grows older. The dark green veined marble-effect stoneware introduces a note of elegance and modernity, contrasting beautifully with the warmth of natural wood and the simplicity of plaster-effect stoneware. We chose to use green marble to give a precious touch to the bathroom, both as a cladding for the shower, where the veins of the material create a visual effect of depth and movement, and in the freestanding washbasin, which becomes a central design element.
A distinctive feature that makes this bathroom unique is the flooring: the wood, the same that extends from the child’s bedroom, enters this space creating visual continuity and a sense of familiarity. The thermally treated wood meets the stoneware slabs that outline an arch pattern, a playful and creative touch that almost invites the child to explore and imagine. This design element also serves to visually define the different areas of the bathroom, such as the shower area and the washbasin area, maintaining a sense of order and functionality.
The plaster-effect stoneware makes the surfaces more neutral, creating a contrast that enhances the beauty of the marble and wood. This finish, with its soft texture, adds an element of comfort and safety to the bathroom
Every detail, from the choice of materials to the arrangement of the elements, has been designed to make this bathroom not only a place for personal care, but also a stimulating environment that grows with the child, where every day can be an adventure.
NIGHT AREA BATHROOM
In the heart of the sleeping area, we created a fully customized bathroom for the couple. All the surfaces are wrapped in a highly variegated grey stone effect which, thanks to the large format of the chosen tiles, allowed us to work seamlessly across the walls.
In our internal stoneware workshop, we cut these tiles to measure to create a shelf with an integrated washbasin, extremely practical to clean and impossible to stain.
To complete this natural atmosphere, we chose taps and accessories in a matte black finish that made the space very elegant.
A room that brings together all the essential elements with a strong visual impact.
MASTER BATHROOM
Get ready to enter the temple of relaxation because the master bathroom we created for this couple, directly inside their bedroom, is a real gem!
Let’s start from the back wall: here we gave ample space to a very large walk-in shower, next to which we positioned a white Corian freestanding bathtub placed on a “carpet” of large slabs that follow its circular shape.
We made use of every centimeter of this room: along the long side, a double washbasin cabinet was installed to allow the clients to get ready together without getting in each other’s way. A particular design choice was to install the sanitary fixtures at the entrance of the bathroom.
Colors and materials: the tones of blue and light blue create a light atmosphere that meets the warmth of the wood that welcomes you, and the resin-effect slabs that, with their neutrality, allow the marble-effect stoneware walls to take center stage.
This bathroom allows for a moment of peace and tranquility in your own home, as if you were in a 5-star spa, but without having to leave the house. Ah, and let’s not forget that everything has been designed with an eye on practicality, because even in beauty, functionality is essential.
PRACTICAL LAUNDRY BATHROOM
The clients’ request to integrate the laundry into the sleeping area floor was clear: they wanted a solution that would make moving dirty and clean clothes as practical as possible. We were faced with an interesting challenge, as the available room was long and narrow!
We used one of the long walls to install a storage unit, which offers ample space for detergents, fabric softeners and other accessories and also integrates a sink of perfect size for hand washing or for pre-treating stains. Next to this, we placed a modular structure that houses the washing machine and dryer stacked one above the other, making the most of the room’s height and saving floor space.
The opposite wall was left free, a strategic choice to facilitate movement during loading and unloading laundry. But we did not give up functionality: we installed a foldable shelf, which can be lifted when needed, to have a temporary surface where to place the laundry basket or to fold clean clothes. This shelf, when closed, disappears from view, keeping the environment tidy and clean.
To make everything even more practical, we chose moisture-resistant and easy-to-clean materials, such as porcelain stoneware for the floor and lacquered surfaces for the furniture. This laundry bathroom is complete in every detail, offering a solution that integrates perfectly with the daily life of the family, without compromising space or comfort.
