We had the pleasure of finishing the new OMC offices, a company known throughout Veneto that operates in the sector of forklifts and other lifting equipment.
The new facility in Montorso Vicentino involved us in the consultancy and installation of flooring. As we will see, practical and functional materials were chosen, but with attention to aesthetics, so that the offices are also pleasant to live in.

Surfaces and finishes for the new OMC offices - Forklifts

We were involved in the finishes of the new OMC offices in Montorso Vicentino, a dealership of professional vehicles such as hydraulic cranes, scrap and timber loaders and aerial platforms, for which it provides both rental and sales services, as well as assistance.

In this new building they also planned a Showroom, to allow their customers to closely view the machinery, and the entire building was designed with particular attention to the environment, with photovoltaic panels and electric charging stations to recharge employees' cars but also some of the vehicles.

We contributed to the aesthetics of the exteriors, with a particular porcelain stoneware flooring, and of the interiors, cladding the staircase in black marble and the office floors in stone-effect tiles..

 

Omc, the Chiampo Valley and the tanning district

Omc began operating in the Chiampo Valley, which is known for the remarkable concentration of tanning companies. Here, the companies that work leather are truly numerous and, if we also consider the related industries, that is, the companies that produce machinery for tanneries and those that sell specific chemical products for leather treatment, we can count over 600 companies and more than 11,000 employees.

The district figures in 2024

The Arzignano Tanning District represents in 2024 over 13% of global leather production and about 38% of European production. This means that, in Europe, more than one in three hides is processed in the Chiampo Valley.
The District now has a headquarters that brings together all producers and where research and development activities, training take place, and where Mile, is being set up, a museum dedicated to leather processing.

Leather: from waste to luxury product

Leather is a waste product of the food industry that would otherwise end up in landfills or, worse, be burned. Thanks to the tanning industry, it is instead reused and, thanks to special treatments, it is transformed from a potential waste into a luxury product for the automotive, furniture or fashion industries. Research today makes it possible to carry out treatments with low environmental impact or even perfectly ecological. Thanks to these new treatments and to the Arzignano treatment plant, the water that is reintroduced into the rivers is no longer polluted and foul-smelling as it was decades ago, but clean and transparent.

OMC has among its clients the main leather producers of the district, but not only: today, thanks to a sales network that covers Veneto and a large part of northern Italy, it has expanded its operational boundaries and for this reason needed a new, large operational headquarters.

An internal staircase leads us from the warehouses to the operational offices!

The staircase was made with steps clad in a very variegated black marble that contrasts with the walls painted white. The L-shaped skirting boards were also made with the same elegant marble and installed on site.

A metal handrail on the right side, which continues along the entire ascent of the structure, provides a source of light that illuminates the space, creating an interesting play of light and shadow on the surfaces. This lighting gives a modern and clean aesthetic to the stairwell.

Marble stairs: strength, safety and representation

For the internal stairs, marble was chosen, a natural material that combines structural solidity with strong aesthetic value.

  • Durability over time: if correctly installed, it maintains its performance unchanged
  • Ease of cleaning, especially in high-traffic environments
  • Superior acoustic comfort compared to metal stairs
  • Aesthetic and representative value, ideal for connecting operational areas and offices

In the OMC project, marble helps to give order, elegance and visual solidity, conveying a corporate image consistent with the reliability of the brand.

It had to result in a functional and easy-to-clean workspace, but with an eye for design that had to be contemporary.

The rooms were floored with 60x60 tiles in a dark grey color characterized by subtle veins and many shade variations, an effect that aims to imitate natural stones such as slate. A surface that integrates perfectly with the chosen furnishings, matching both wooden elements, such as desks, and metal ones such as chairs.

Large windows allow natural light to illuminate the room and highlight every slight texture.

Why these materials were chosen

The offices and operational areas of OMC are not “traditional” spaces: this is a company that sells and repairs forklifts and pallet trucks, equipment subject to heavy loads, continuous handling and particularly demanding usage conditions for surfaces.

For this reason, the choice of materials for floors and stairs could not be based only on aesthetics, but had to meet specific technical requirements:

  • high mechanical resistance to concentrated loads and frequent traffic
  • durability over time, even in the presence of impacts and vibrations
  • ease of maintenance and cleaning, essential in working environments
  • safety, with surfaces suitable even in the presence of dirt or humidity
  • comfort and visual order, especially in office and representative areas

From these needs comes the choice of porcelain stoneware floors and marble stairs, two different but complementary materials, selected according to the specific functions of the spaces.

Porcelain stoneware is one of the most high-performing materials for industrial and commercial contexts. In the case of OMC, it was used both for spatial continuity and for its ability to withstand demanding working conditions.

Technical advantages of porcelain stoneware

  • Very high load resistance: ideal for the passage of forklifts and pallet trucks
  • Resistance to abrasion and impacts, even in the case of accidental drops of equipment
  • Compact and non-absorbent surface, which is not affected by oils, grease or industrial dirt
  • Minimal maintenance: it does not require periodic treatments
  • Dimensional stability: it does not deform with temperature changes
  • Good thermal comfort, especially when combined with radiant systems

Il marciapiede perimetrale esterno è composto da grandi piastrelle rettangolari di colore grigio chiaro, con macchie e venature grigio scuro che ricordano la pietra ceppo di grè.

Un pavimento luminoso e neutro, che si accosta perfettamente alla tinteggiatura rosso Ferrari scelta per le pareti dello stabile, ma anche pratico in quanto il gres non teme macchie, abrasioni e agenti atmosferici.

A few months after the inauguration...

After some time from the completion, the floors and stairs are daily used by OMC staff during sales, assistance and handling activities of the equipment. Porcelain stoneware has proven to be up to intensive use, ensuring stability, safety and ease of cleaning even in the areas most stressed by the passage of workshop staff.

Customer satisfaction arises precisely from this: surfaces that maintain their performance unchanged over time, contributing to making workspaces functional, orderly and consistent with the image of a solid and well-structured company.
